So I Was Wrong...

When I am wrong, I have to admit it. I was wrong. The Patriots came out flat and looked nothing like the team that was donning those jerseys for the other eighteen games of the season. Eli Manning, who I said would have to come back to normalcy, wound up being the Super Bowl MVP. I wasn't just wrong, I was completely backward.

I still dislike the Giants. I still think Eli Manning is a mediocre quarterback in the NFL and will be nothing in comparison to his brother. Looking back on their careers, Peyton and Eli will be like Hank and Tommie Aaron. (Stump your buddies: Which siblings hold the MLB record for most career home runs by a pair of brothers? Answer: the Aarons - Hank 755, Tommie 13.) Similarly, the Mannings will consist of the one that set records, and the other is the quasi-famous one. Still, there have been more ridiculous and unexpected MVPs, and this will be the bright spot in a cloudy-sky kinda career. More unexpected MVP: Desmond Howard as a special-teamer in Super Bowl XXXI in '97. (Yeah, he's got a Heisman, but he also had barely as many receiving yards in his entire career as Reggie Wayne had in this regular season.)

And, Tynes nailed a 32-yarder yesterday, that means he can definitely put it between Strahan's teeth...and have lots of room to spare.
